Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Seeks a Work Study Student

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is looking for a Work Study Student for the Fall 2014 semester.

  • Department offices and labs covers three different buildings: Jarvis, Furnas, Bell
  • General office work – filing, answering telephones, copying, making labels, etc.
  • Send/Sort mail and packages
  • Maintain supplies and keep track of needed items
  • Update/create databases
  • Make departmental conference room reservations
  • Submit work orders
  • Run errands, move office boxes, etc
  • Faculty in Jarvis, Furnas and Bell Hall –assist various faculty when needed
  • Assist different staff members (5) at different times when needed

 Qualifications

-Be punctual
-Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
– Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, (very limited), Outlook)
– Must be organized
-Notify office when unavailable for work, or even running late, preferably day before

Honors College Work Study Opportunity for 2014-2015

Honors College Student Assistant Description:

The primary responsibility of the Student Assistant (SA) is to act as a receptionist for the Honors College. The SA will also provide general office support to the College’s professional staff including:

  • Checking students in for appointments
  • Answering basic questions
  • Answering telephones
  • Completing special projects
  • Filing
  • Mailing (some large)
  • Copying
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and friendly manner
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Previous office work desired but not necessary.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be accurate, dependable, friendly and willing to work on a team

Desired Availability:

Flexible availability to work for up to ten hours weekly between the hours of 8:30 – 5:00pm

Office Profile:

The University Honors College has a staff of an Administrative Director, Director, five Assistant Directors, and a Program Coordinator.  The Work Study student will report to the Program Coordinator and receive work assignments from all staff members.
