Graduate Assistant Position

The primary responsibilities for this graduate assistant position in the UB School of Social Work include duties pertaining to project administration; writing, supporting, editing and preparing content for our bi-annual Mosaics magazine and other projects and communications; and requisite administrative tasks. These duties include the following:

  • Provide general assistance to the Communications Officer/Senior Project Manager and others in writing, proofreading, research, correspondence, updating social media, etc.
  • Assist in daily tasks as well as special projects as needed, including the editing of brochures, view books, letters, reports, etc. for various groups within the school.
  • Provide editorial assistance as needed with the school’s website.

This position requires a 20 hour a week commitment for 12 months.  It includes a biweekly stipend in the amount of $360.96 and also provides an in-state graduate student tuition scholarship. Anticipated start date of July 1, 2016.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or a related area. Proficient in the Associated Press style manual of writing. Experience in writing, interviewing and preparing and proofing written communications. The successful candidate will be flexible and able to multi-task and will possess an exceptional ability to work with others and independently; superior organizational/time management skills; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must have thorough working knowledge of MS Office suite (especially Word and Excel), advanced computer skills and ability to learn new programs quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with website content management systems, photography and videography capture/editing/organization skills a strong plus. Experience with social media and other new and emerging media.
