Intern for Service-Learning

 The Honors College seeks an Honors College intern for the fall 2016 and spring 2017 to work on service-learning outreach and programming. The schedule is flexible but the graduate intern is expected to work 6-10 hours per week. To apply, email a copy of your resume and a brief statement about why you are interested in the internship to Dr. Tara Jabbaar-Gyambrah at The deadline to apply is May 4, 2016 by 5:00 p.m. Interviews will take place between May 5, 2016 and May 6, 2016.  The selected Honors intern can earn up to 3.0 Honors credit hours, depending on the number of hours they are available.

Description of Duties

  • Assist with the coordination of TA recruitment, selection, and training
  • Assist with the compilation of the Teaching Assistant Manual
  • Assist with the compilation of the Service-Learning Handbook for students and community partners
  • Assist with the uploading and organization of course material on UBlearns for HON 102: Freshmen Honors Colloquium
  • Assist with the development and distribution of assessment materials through campus labs and/or google docs
  • Serve as the community partner liaison for Colloquium by assisting with the following areas: trouble shoot problems with CP, pair students with CP, assist with student placement, organize CP preferences, prepare electronic CP profiles, prepare CP schedules for spring 2017, assist with the coordination of the CP panel, can in CP forms in folders, facilitate communication between CP, TA’s and students, reach out to potential CP, etc.
  • Create and maintain the community partner database to ensure that the correct forms and contact information on are file
  • Assist with the coordination of guest speakers for HON 102: Freshmen Honors Colloquium on specific topics (e.g., cultural competency, history of Buffalo, etc.)
  • Attend and participate in Thursday TA meetings in the spring 2017
  • Assist with the coordination with the Day of Service for the fall and spring semester
  • Assist with the scheduling of guest speakers for HON 202: Honors College Sophomore Civic Engagement Practicum II
  • Any other assigned duties related to service-learning initiatives
