Transcending Borders UB – BRIDGES(Building Relationships Involving Diverse Groups of Engaged Students) Now accepting applications through UB Linked.

So you’re wondering, what exactly is BRIDGES? That’s a fair question. BRIDGES is all about building new connections with fellow students at UB, both international and American. It challenges misconceptions and works to overcome barriers between students from diverse backgrounds. BRIDGES fosters personal reflection, cultural understanding and relationship building. It strives to create a renewed sense of community and pride in UB.

Well, that’s nice, but how exactly will BRIDGES accomplish these lofty goals? Simple. Through a series of fun, interconnected shared experiences being offered throughout the spring 2014 term.

So now you’re wondering where YOU fit into this equation. Again, the answer is simple. BRIDGES is looking for a group of diverse, curious and engaged students who are willing to step outside themselves and make new connections with peers. BRIDGES is looking for students who can commit to participate in a series of activities and embrace the truly global learning community that is UB.

Here’s a snap shot of the BRIDGES schedule for spring 2014:

  • Friday, February 21 (4:00pm-6:00pm, Capen Hall): Welcome dinner and group activity
  • Saturday, March 1 (10am-2:00pm, Rochester, NY): Indoor high ropes course and team building

  • Saturday, April 12 (all day, Buffalo, NY): Community service
