Tuesday, September 22 is National Voter Registration Day! Join Student Engagement in the push for voter registration by using your creativity to write chalk messages across UB.

UB SELECT stands for “Student Engagement and Leadership Education Credential Training”.
This program is designed to help students get resume-worthy experience to build skills and competencies that students can apply in their courses and future careers. Through this program, students will work with a Student Engagement Ambassador to choose from a variety of opportunities, classes, and other programs.
A More Inclusive CertificateThis new program updates the TORCH, PEAK and UBXL Certificates and introduces two new certificates: Community and Civic Engagement and SOUL [Student Organizations Understanding Leadership] for a broader extra-curricular experience. Students previously enrolled in these certificates will still be able to complete them with their original requirements.
Team Fillmore is hiring! Buffalo City Council Member Mitch Nowakowski is looking for a talented, eager intern to join his dynamic team at City Hall who help him serve the community. Office activities include:
– Planning community outreach events – Conducting legislative research – Assisting constituents with City Hall departments – Scheduling – Preparation of constituent correspondence – Working with other Council and local government offices – Sending regular newsletters to stakeholders – And more!

A celebration of UB’s innovation and startup ecosystem, with five days of events, all hosted on a virtual platform. Get to know the community, and learn from and connect with entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, investors, and like-minded students. The series of programs will catalyze students to find their inner entrepreneurial spirit.
All college students, no matter their starting point, can leverage entrepreneurship skills to build a better future – for themselves and for the world. By engaging with UB’s LaunchPad, students will learn by doing, giving them the knowledge and know-how to help them succeed as a founder or contributor to the innovation economy.
Parking and Transportation Services, Campus Living and University Police will have expert bicycle mechanics at The Commons across from the Student Union from 11am-2pm Tuesday, September 15, 2020 and at Main Circle from 11am-2pm Friday, September 18, 2020 to oil chains, check brakes and perform basic maintenance on your bicycle – FORFREE!!! University health and safety protocols will be followed.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship supports sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. Read on to learn more about the scholarship process and eligibility, and to make an appointment with a fellowships advisor.
Eligibility and Application Materials
To be eligible for the Goldwater, you must: Have a 3.8 GPA or higher Be a Sophomore or junior majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Plan to pursue a PhD in STEM. Have prior research experience. Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residence with intent to become a citizen. The Goldwater application consists of: Online questionnaire. Research essay. Three letters of recommendation. Transcripts. Permanent resident card and Letter of Intent (if applicable).
We seek inventive and compelling ideas about changes that could create a better world from college and university students.
Participants are invited to submit a written project proposal that addresses one of the two topics listed on the following website: https://www.reimaginepod.org/challenge
