The Blackstone LaunchPad at the University at Buffalo is seeking a student assistant to help with student entrepreneurship engagement across campus. Specifically, the student would assist with the LaunchPad’s efforts to engage and support students across campus and across disciplines. The person accepting this position should have exceptional communication and marketing skills which will be critical to the success of this position.

The major focus of this position is writing and editing copy for print and web materials. Work to be performed includes but is not limited to:

  • Create expert and strategic content for print publications, websites, events and social media channels.
  • Develop and maintain website editorial calendars; copy-edit and proofread old and new web content; ensure use of website content best practices.
  • Work within Blackstone LaunchPad’s editorial vetting system, ensuring created content is well-written, on-brand and edited/proofed to meet both AP and UB standards.
  • Develop press releases, media advisories and success stories to share with University and Western New York media outlets.
  • Demonstrate initiative and “can do” attitude with creating new initiatives and solving new challenges.

The position may also require other duties as assigned that are needed by the Center and/or tasks that utilize this person’s personal interests or talents.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the rapidly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus. The position will require 10-15 hours work per week, some flexibility with scheduling, yet some hours will be dictated by specific activities that will require evening and weekend availability.  The candidate must be registered full-time. Hourly rate is $12.
