Michelle and Barack Obama partnered with Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky to create The Voyager Scholarship. This award is for students who intend careers in public service—government, non-profit, community organizing, social work, entrepreneurship, the arts and more.
Winners receive: Up to $50,000 ($25,000 per year for their final two years) in financial aid. A $10,000 summer stipend and free Airbnb housing to go on a summer work-travel between junior and senior year. A 10-year travel stipend. Airbnb will give students $2,000 in travel credits every year for 10 years, totaling $20,000. Invitation to annual fall summit. Access to a network of like-minded leaders and public servants.
Applicants must: Be enrolled full-time for their junior year of study during Fall 2022. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Have a demonstrated commitment to public service. Plan to pursue a career in public service upon graduation. A U.S. citizen or permanent resident or a DACA recipient.
The 2022 Health Futures Challenge is a pitch competition where students, local business professionals and UB staff form teams and pitch ideas to improve both the local and global health economy. This challenge is an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to come together in order to help solve issues within the vast and complicated field of healthcare. Aspiring applicants will select one of the four following categories to compete in: healthcare industry, clinical trials, healthy hospitals, and public data collection. If any of these categories sound interesting to you, give the 2022 Health Futures Challenge a shot!
All teams must submit an executive summary and a two-minute video pitch describing their idea by April 27th at midnight. The best teams will go on to the final pitch competition, where they will have a chance to win up to $3,000! That live pitch competition will be held on April 29th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at CBLS (701 Ellicott St). emPower Pitch: This competition promotes aspiring female entrepreneurs – it’s focused on female-led, managed and/or owned ventures and ideas. This pitch competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students at UB with the opportunity to pitch their idea for cash prizes. The final competition will consist of 10 teams presenting a 3-minute pitch for the ultimate prize.
Tapecon/Protoscale Innovation Sprint: UB students, faculty and alumni build Protoscale spin-off businesses from a portfolio of manufacturing-ready technologies. The technologies will be pre-vetted. The best teams/business models will be invited to utilize Tapecon, at no cost, for prototyping their solution (MVP) and initially selling/marketing the solution. They also have the opportunity to enter the Cultivator, which can provide up to $100k funding. In the Cultivator, Tapecon will act as a “big brother” providing CTO services, strategy advice and potential first customer intros.

Henry A. Panasci Technology Entrepreneurship Competition – win +50,000
UB’s Blackstone LaunchPad encourages undergraduate and graduate students of all studies to participate in this year’s Panasci Technology Entrepreneurship Competition! The winners will receive $52,000 in seed money and in-kind services towards their business venture! Ideas in the life sciences, technology or engineering industries are encouraged, but not limited. Pitch your product, service, or scalable social innovation!
Teams will pitch their innovative ideas to judges in multiple rounds throughout the competition. The Panasci competition will provide coaching and mentoring to participants to prepare them for their pitches!
Get Seeded: Need some funding to get your idea off the ground? Monthly Get Seeded pitch events are for aspiring University at Buffalo student entrepreneurs. Sign up for a chance to pitch your idea, where the audience decides if you get seeded! No props or slide show decks allowed, just you and your pitch.

Worlds Challenge Challenge: Do you have an idea that can make the world a better place? The World’s Challenge Challenge asks UB students to think BIG during this 7-week design challenge. We will focus on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals our university has created and task students to create solutions.

In recognition that academic integrity is the foundational value of all teaching, learning, and research efforts, the University at Buffalo seeks to recognize those individuals who help to elevate this important value at our institution.
At the conclusion of each spring semester, in conjunction with National Honesty Day on April 30, the Office of Academic Integrity will recognize individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond their duty to promote and enhance our culture of integrity at UB during the past academic year.
An awards ceremony is tentatively planned for Monday, May 2, 2022.
The nomination deadline for the 2021-22 awards is March 31, 2022.
Last week Buffalo celebrated 10 startup finalists pitch their vision for 43North’s multi-million dollar business competition. Seven founders and their companies walked away with half a million dollars and Top Seedz won $1,000,000 to bring their venture to the next stage.
