I hope you are doing well! I wanted to share our Stress Reduction Program events and resources with you so you can share them with the students that you work with during this unique semester. Attached is our Sept/October calendar of events. All of our programs will be online this semester, except for our weekly Quit Smoking/Vaping Walk-in Clinics on Thursdays from 11am – 1pm at 114 SU with free nicotine patches and gum. We have tripled the number of weekly programs we are offering so that students can go online Monday-Friday to https://buffalo.zoom.us/my/relax and select between one and three activities to participate in each day. Highlights for this semester include:
Two online 4-session Mindfulness & Meditation programs at the following times—
1) Tuesdays from 5-6:30pm in Zoom from 9/29-10/20 and 2) Thursdays from 3:30-5pm in Zoom from 10/1-10/22. The skills that are taught include belly breathing, dynamic breathing, body scan, walking meditation, guided visualizations, eating meditation and more. The program provides examples of how college student can practice meditation to support their college experiences. No experience necessary. Registration is required on UBLinked or by emailing sd62@buffalo.edu (see attached ad).
We have a new Campus Wellness Coaching Program where students can schedule online appointments to work on goals related to academic, physical, social, or emotional wellness. This may be particularly helpful as students navigate challenges related to COVID-19. For more info or to schedule an appointment, see https://www.buffalo.edu/studentlife/lifeon-campus/health/healthy-decisions/ wellness-coach.html
Our large-scale Chill Out stress relief event before Finals will be Wednesday, 11/18, 12-2pm via Zoom at https://buffalo.zoom.us/my/relax. This virtual event will have interactive breakout rooms with activities that include: dog therapy, Zumba dance, coloring, yoga, guided meditation, quick easy meals, campus support resources and more!
Feel free to share these opportunities widely. Students can see UBLinked or the UB events calendar for more details on these programs.
