Erie County Sustainability, Clean Energy and GIS Internship Opportunities

Posted by Tim on August 4, 2022 in Honors Experiences, Internships

Just wanted to let you know that DEP and DPW are excepting applications for several internships:

Sustainability and Clean Energy Internship Program.  We are hiring more paid interns to support our sustainability and clean energy initiatives.  This is to follow on five internships we offered this summer with support from NYSERDA, and we are refilling those positions on a rolling basis as they open up.  Three are being hired right away, for start dates in mid-September, and two positions will be hired later this year.  The candidates need to be recent or current college students, and will earn $17/hr.  This is a great opportunity for individuals to get experience working on these pressing issues while learning about careers in public service.   Here are the internship titles:

  1. Erie County Low Income Program for Sustainable Energy (ECLIPSE) Research Intern
  2. Erie County Low Income Program for Sustainable Energy (ECLIPSE) Outreach Intern
  3. Community Climate Action Plan Interns (two)
  4. Green Fleet Intern

GIS Intern.  The GIS Intern will work closely with the Erie County Environmental Compliance Services Division and the Office of Geographic Information Services to perform tasks related to GIS data development, data visualization, data analysis, map production, and work with online mapping applications.  This is also a paid internship, and we are looking to hire for September.  Responsibilities will include:

  1. Working as a team member on projects under direct supervision and mentorship
  2. Developing data summaries of field data using a template
  3. Assisting with GIS data organization
  4. Assisting with geospatial analysis
  5. Assisting with online GIS application development tasks
