Spring 2019 Citizen Planning School

Students have an opportunity to work directly with citizens across the region to help them turn ideas for change in their community into reality

Open to All Majors

One Region Forward (1RF) received a prestigious award in 2016 from the American Planning Association for the exemplary approach to civic engagement in its regional sustainability planning process, including the innovative Citizens Planning School and its Champions for Change program. This Spring 2019, these programs will launch into their fourth year, this time with a special focus on Regional Regenerative Development, a place‐based process of cultivating the ability in people, communities, and ecosystems to renew, evolve, and thrive. 1RF, the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning and Blackstone LaunchPad seek talented, motivated students to join the interdisciplinary team that will deliver the next iteration of this program and forward the innovative work of diverse community members in regional regeneration that supports social and ecological well‐being.

This course will be an intensive practicum and action research laboratory, where students, faculty and community partners will learn through doing as they contribute their skills and passion to move our region forward.
