Blackstone LaunchPad, International Education, and UB Sustainability are partnering up to host the 2019 World’s Challenge Challenge. This competition calls on students to address a key challenge that the world faces. In teams of three, students from diverse backgrounds will choose one idea and relate it to one (or more) of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the global community. It is an engaging opportunity for students to gain real-world experience through social innovation and entrepreneurship. Teams will compete locally here at UB in April, and the winning team goes on to contend against students from all around the world in London, Ontario in June.

Each team will have 5 to 7 minutes to talk about the World’s Challenge you wish to address, using a slide deck for visual support. Your presentation should reflect the concepts and principles being discussed through visuals and a limited amount of text. Video and other multimedia files and links are allowed, within the given time allotted.

  • First Place $2,000
  • Second Place $1,000
  • Third Place $500
  • Plus a chance to compete at the finals for an additional $30,000 Canadian.

Once you have your team and idea, you will need to submit a video that is no longer than two minutes (you can book the Video Recording Rooms in the Silverman Library through the online reservation system if needed:  Video submissions must be sent by 2/8 (see website and flyer for more details).
