Sept. 8-14 is National Suicide Prevention Week, and the Student Health and Wellness Team is offering free programming on campus to support students and the campus community. Members of the UB community are urged to “take a minute, save a life.”

Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 with the Buffalo Out of the Darkness Walk at Canalside. Join the UB team.

Offerings on campus during the week include:

  • Sept. 10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.:  Wellness Activity Day, Student Union lobby, North Campus. Participants can find information on mental health resources, stress relief, intuitive nutrition, yoga meditation and mindfulness, as well as games and prizes.
  • Sept. 11, 4:30-6 p.m.: Yoga to Manage Moods Workshop, Year of Yoga for Every Body, 7 Diefendorf Hall, basement level, South Campus. This Hatha Yoga workshop will allow participants to feel more connected and balanced within their body and mind through gentle movement, breathing and relaxation. No yoga experience is necessary.
  • Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to noon: Open QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training, 210 Student Union. Ask a question, save a life. QPR is an easy-to-learn process that helps participants recognize the early warning signs of suicide, and get professional help for people who need it. Register online.
