University Communications: Paid Writing Position for Students Spring 2022

Posted by Tim on November 22, 2021 in Student Job Opportunities

If you or your colleagues know of any students who might benefit from this opportunity, I would be grateful if you could share this opportunity.

These are paid positions of 12-20 hours per week, at $13.20 per hour, and they are open to undergraduate and graduate students. Students may also be able to receive internship credit, depending on departmental/program internship requirements. The positions will be open until filled. Review of applications will begin Nov. 29, 2021.

We have an online ad here, with details at the bottom on how to apply, as well as contact info in case students have questions:

We are asking applicants to use the Bullseye/Handshake application system to submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample (such as a published news article, academic essay or other sample demonstrating writing skills).

Our student assistants work with us to write features, news releases and other articles about research, community partnerships and other work carried out by university professors, staff and students. It’s a great opportunity to be creative, tell great stories and gain professional experience in communications. Writing assignments will be similar to those in UBNow and News Center

Here are just a few of the stories that students have written in our office this semester:
