As we begin the start of a new semester, here’s a quick update on the 2nd annual Western New York Undergraduate Psychology Conference. Abstract submissions are now open, and the submission deadline is March 15th, 2021. Students can opt to present either a 5-minute lightning talk or a 12-minute oral presentation. As a member of its Board of Directors, I am excited to inform you that applications for MCW Global’s 2021 Young Leaders Access Program are now available.
The program is open to young people between 18 and 26 who want to further develop their leadership and project management skills in a global setting. A critical component of the program is mentorship – where participants are paired up with a mentor for an entire year to help plan and work on something they care about.
We are looking for passionate youth who want to invest in their personal and professional development, and would appreciate it if you can share the opportunity with your network and the young people you interact with.

Accessibility Resources is looking for Peer Notetakers! Peer Notetakers provide an essential service that helps ensure equal access to education for students who receive accommodations. Students often find volunteering to be a Peer Notetaker enhances the classroom experience by encouraging more thorough, quality notes. If all notes are submitted, notetakers will receive a letter of service for their volunteer hours, or if they qualify, a small honoraria.

Department Profile
UB’s division of University Communications (UC) is responsible for university-wide communications and marketing — including branding, media relations, digital (web, social media), editorial/content, and creative design — for the University at Buffalo (UB). The division is highly visible, nationally recognized, and its award-winning communication products represent the public face of the university. As a member of UC’s Digital Communications & Strategy team, you will help us transform the way content is created, distributed and tracked on social media, the web, and other digital communication platforms. You will support the department’s efforts to monitor and shape perceptions, fulfill information needs and provide exceptional service to external and internal audiences of UB.
As our Social Media Multimedia Content and Engagement Assistant you will focus on promoting UB by creating multimedia assets – including social videos (such as Instagram Stories) as well as video content that tell our distinct UB story and inspire our online audiences. Additional tasks include curating and producing innovative, thoughtful and inspiring content for social media, and monitoring and engaging with online audiences. You will also learn how to communicate on behalf of the brand and capture UB’s distinct mission and culture.

This PAID student position requires a weekly commitment of 15-20 hours during the academic semester. Hours are available during breaks.

Responsibilities
The Social Media Content/Engagement Assistant will work directly with the Social Media Manager and collaboratively with other members of the UC team to accomplish the following goals:
Plan, write, produce and distribute video, multimedia and other content on social media
Assist in management and administration of UB’s top-level social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn)
Coordinate cross-unit social media campaigns
Continually monitor, identify and engage with our online audiences
Support digital analytics activities
Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong understanding of, and experience using social media (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn)
Excellent writing (esp. for social)
Video production skills, especially knowledge of video editing tools (proficiency in Adobe Premiere, After Effects or Final Cut Pro is a plus)
Additional Skills
Graphic design skills, especially knowledge of editing tools including Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator
A strong visual (e.g. photo selection) aesthetic
You should:

We are beginning a tutoring program with high school students from Buffalo Public Schools, and as such, we are seeking undergraduate-level tutors, particularly those in math and science.
Tutoring will be held Monday-Thursday between 2-5 p.m. We are asking that those who are interested commit to at least two afternoons per week.
Ideally, we are looking for tutors who could qualify for a Work Study program; that would allow them to be paid for their time. Otherwise, the tutors would need to work on a volunteer basis.

I’m happy to announce that YI is now accepting applications to the Fall 2020 Young Advocates Program, a paid leadership development program in policy and advocacy. Young people, ages 18-34, that are interested in learning more about higher education policy and advocacy are encouraged to apply.
The program will run from September 11th-December 11th. Advocates must be able to meet on Fridays from 12pm-4:30pm and will work an additional 2.5 hours each week on individual or group projects. Students will be paid $15 per hour.
