Dr. Molly Giblin, a graduate of both the History Department and the Honors College, is currently the Director of Programs for Princeton in Asia, an institution that “fosters mutual appreciation and cross-cultural understanding between the United States and Asia through immersive work fellowships in host organizations and communities.” The Princeton in Asia’s Fellowship Program’s application for 2024-2025 is now open until the deadline of November 1, 2023. The program anticipates offering 60 fellowships overall in a total of 13 different countries. If you are a rising seniors or a recent graduate from any university, you are eligible to apply until November 1, 2023 for this amazing opportunity. Throughout this year, UB alum Fiona Pratt-MacDonald has been a stellar Fellow for Dr. Molly Giblin, and she is hoping we continue to send more of UB’s Honor’s College students in the future!

Robert Occhino Honors College Experiential Learning Fund
Established by Thomas Occhino (Honors Scholar, BS’07) and Jessica Occhino to promote inclusive excellence, equity and diversity by supporting undergraduate students who wish to participate in an experiential learning opportunity (including but not limited to unpaid internships). Students should be in good standing in the Honors College, accepted into a major in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), and be a member of a group underrepresented in engineering and computer science (examples include, but are not limited to, students who are female, LGBTQ, Black, Latinx, Native American, a veteran, or have a disability).
Seniors: Princeton in Asia (PiA) Fellowships foster mutual appreciation and cross-cultural understanding between the United States and Asia through immersive
work opportunities in host organizations and communities. Next year there will be 60 fellowships that support one or two-year paid work opportunities in one of 13 countries from across Asia from Kazakhstan in the West to Japan in the East. An Honors College alumna, Dr Molly Giblin, is the Director of Programs for PiA and other HC alums have had these fellowships in the past. Language skills are welcome but not required for most posts. Applicants do not need to be U.S. citizens, but must attest to how they will contribute to PiA’s mission of United States-Asia exchange. All majors welcomed. Application deadline: November 1. Sean Bennett, Professor, Department of Geography (http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~seanb/), is seeking to hire two (2) research assistants effective immediately. The project involves using a hydraulic flume on the North Campus to collect flow and turbulence data over an experimental bed of model mussels. The ideal candidates would be highly motivated and responsible undergraduate students with strong interests and expertise in water resources, developed analytical and programming skills (e.g., R, Matlab, Python), and able to work 10 to 15 hours per week on their own schedule.
