2023-2024 Asia Research Institute Undergraduate Fellows Program Deadline to apply is June 20

The Asia Research Institute (ARI) invites students who will be enrolled at the University at Buffalo in the 2023-24 to apply for the ARI Undergraduate Fellows Program. Fellows will enjoy membership in a community of undergraduate scholars committed to the study of Asia, unique opportunities to engage with UB faculty and distinguished guests, mentorship on research projects of interest to them, and other benefits. Applications are due Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:59pm.

Undergraduate Fellows Program Benefits

• Membership in a community of undergraduates committed to Asian Studies and recognition by the ARI community.
• Invitation to special events and meetings with distinguished guests.
• Eligible for receiving one academic credit per semester for successful completion.

• Opportunities to engage with UB faculty on research, academic writing, and career mentoring.
• Present a paper in the annual Korean Studies Undergraduate Exchange Conference (March 2024), the Undergraduate Conference on South Asia (March-April 2024), New York Conference on Asian Studies (October 2024), and other opportunities.

How to Apply
2023-24 ARI Undergraduate Research Fellows Program Application deadline: Extended to Tuesday, June 20, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT
If you are interested in being a fellow, please complete the online application form no later than June 20. You will be asked to submit a statement of purpose in the online form and upload your resume.

  1. Statement of Purpose
    150- 200 words explaining why you are a good candidate for the UGF Program. You could highlight, for example, your research interests, prior international experiences, and extracurricular activities.
  2. Resume
    Please include your major or intended major, anticipated graduation date, and any Asia-related experience in addition to other work and volunteer experience.
